At age 4 my son, Thing 1, was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.Asperger's Syndrome is a series of autistic-like behaviours and difficulties with social and communication skills in children with otherwise normal intelligence and language development. One problem that parents of children with Asperger's Syndrome, and indeed other Autistic Spectrum Disorders, have to learn to cope with is anger. Children with ASDs experience anger differently from other people and express their anger differently from other people. This can present a challenge for any parent.I am sharing here some of those differences found in children with ASDs in an effort to help other people understand how they experience anger better. And hopefully provide a few methods of dealing with that anger in a less destructive manner.
