Infant circumcision...No way!

I must admit I didn't always think this way. I grew up where circumcision is a must, an absolute normal and natural thing. So first time I saw an intact male (live so to speak :) I was a bit shocked. Not disgusted or anything, just a bit taken back. When I got pregnant it got me thinking. So I decided to do some research. Boy, have I been misinformed on the subject! Information about the foreskin itself is almost always missing from discussions about circumcision. The mass circumcision campaigns of the past few decades have resulted in pandemic ignorance about this remarkable structure and its versatile role in human sexuality. Ignorance and false information about the foreskin are the rule in our medical literature, education, and practice. Here I will try to dispel some myths about circumcision.

I had my three boys circumcise. In the 1060's everyone that had boys seem to be getting it done. But to this day I still feel guilty about doing it.

Yet my boys in their 40's have never said a word to me, about it.

Circumcision reduces the risks of urinary tract infections and believe it or not, it reduces the risk of sexually transmitted infections as well. It has no side effects and now a days, infants usually get it under local anesthesia, back in the day there was no anesthesia. In many poor countries, they used to call a barber home to come and chop off the top little piece of the skin covering the penis aka circumcision....NO anesthesia

Sure, it sounds barbaric....but mostly it is a religious practice and religion is barbaric.
