The Callahan Series is a pretty strange concept in fiction. It's set in a bar where the clientele are extremely varied (aliens and time travelers included), yet of a similar accord. The clientele respect privacy: rules of bar the state that there is no prying. They are also quite generous and willing to help each other out. Setting this book in a tavern has allowed Spider Robinson to create a truly bizarre set of stories around a strange bunch of people. Plus, it allows him the freedom to make it extremely funny - which he does with ease.Here's a quick introduction to the series.
