It's been a little over twenty years since the summer of 1990, when I first read Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams. There are very few books that enthrall me just as much now as they did twenty years ago. Even among those titles, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency is the one I go back to most often, which is why I consider it my favorite novel of all time.
